Bangkok Airways to start flights to Mandalay in September

August 2, 2013 by Travel News Editor

Bangkok Airways will start regular flights from Bangkok to Mandalay on Sept 15, 2013. This route is currently served by AirAsia and Thai Smile. Bangkok Airways flights to Mandalay Airport will depart from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport on a 144-seat Airbus 319.

The airline will initially offer four flights per week on the route, increasing the frequency to daily on Oct 27. Its entry will intensify the competition for the second-most important route between Thailand and Myanmar after Bangkok-Yangon, which is served Bangkok Airways, AirAsia, Thai Airways International (THAI) and other international operators.

The flights will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing from Bangkok at 12 noon and arriving at 1:20pm local time. The return flight will leave at 2:10pm, landing in Bangkok at 4:35pm.
