Doha Hamad Airport Hotel to offer 12-hour advance check-in

Thai Airways Starts Flights to Tokyo Haneda Airport

On October 31st Thai Airways started operating daily flights from Bangkok to Tokyo Haneda Airport, utilizing Airbus A340-500 aircraft.

Teerapol Chotichanapibal, Thai’s acting executive vice president for commercial department, said, “Thai will commence daily flight to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on 31 October 2010, while maintaining current service to Narita International Airport. By serving Haneda, passengers flying Thai to Tokyo will experience more convenience with flight departures and arrivals that are closer in proximity to Tokyo’s city center.” [Read more…]

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Awarded Green Globe

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport has been awarded “Green Globe” by the non-profit environmental organization EC3. In its first annual ‘Earthcheck’ assessment against benchmarking indicators and checklists to track performance in key areas of environmental and social impact, the 320-room hotel outperformed baseline levels in seven areas including water savings, use of paper products, cleaning products and pesticides. Singapore Airlines Check-In at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport

Guests at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in Singapore now get an added bonus when they stay at the 320-room city-style resort.

Guests can now literally “check in” as they “check out”: check into Singapore Airlines or SilkAir flights from a dedicated counter in the lobby of the hotel, at the same time as they check out of their rooms.

The unique new service is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) personnel, who take care of check–in baggage and issue boarding passes. [Read more…]

Thai Airways to Move All Domestic Flights to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Starting on March 29, 2009 Thai Airways International will operate all domestic and international flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Thai Airways will move a total of 23 domestic flights from Don Mueang Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

By shifting all flights to Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thai Airways will achieve a strategic objective of promoting the airport as a major THAI and Star Alliance hub. The move will enable Thai Airways to develop network of operations, improve handling efficiency and reduce operating costs. It will also increase convenience for passengers and cargo shippers, not only for Thai Airways flights, but also for those of other Star Alliance member airlines operating to and through Bangkok. Singapore Changi Airport Reports Traffic Growth in 2008

Despite the global economic slowdown in the second half of 2008, Singapore Changi Airport handled a higher volume of passenger traffic, with 37.7 million passenger movements handled in 2008, up 2.7% from 2007.

Among the top 15 markets by passenger traffic, both regional and long-haul sectors registered growth. In the region, the sectors of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam, grew 6.5%, 9.4%, 11.9% and 19.4% respectively, while the long-haul sectors of Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom grew 5.6%, 5% and 7%. Declines of 10.9% and 5.2% were registered in passenger traffic from Thailand and China. [Read more…]

Qantas to Upgrade Perth Domestic Terminal

Before the end of this year, Qantas will begin a $50 million upgrade of its Perth Airport domestic terminal. Improvements to pre-flight facilities will include increased space, addition QuickCheck kiosks, a new, more streamlined security screening area, and an expanded departure lounge. The Qantas Club lounge will also be upgraded and enlarged.Baggage handling capacity will be improved, and additional screening facilities for checked bags will be added, along with an expansion of the baggage claim area. Qantas will also add an aerobridge and upgrade an existing aircraft parking bay to give the terminal additional parking for wide-body aircraft. These changes will be made to reduce parking congestion during peak periods. [Read more…]
