Hong Kong Express Airways will open two new routes to Thailand this year, starting in early September with Bangkok. The four-times-weekly flight to Bangkok will be on its B737-800 aircraft. The airline started flying to Thailand in June of 2006 with service to Chiang Mai, and will add Phuket to its Thai destinations later this year. In addition to Phuket, Hong Kong Express will add four more regional routes in 2007.
Hong Kong Express Airways President Mr. Guo commented, “While we await the liberalization of routes to promising Mainland China markets, we decided to diversify our fleet capacity to popular points in South East Asia. As well as offering more options to passengers flying from Hong Kong, the introduction of flights to Bangkok and other destinations we plan to unveil over the coming few months will also create a network of connecting traffic from our existing mainland routes.”
Bangkok is a popular weekend destination for Hong Kong residents. The Thai capital is only three hours away by air.
