Wizz Air carries six millionth passenger

April 10, 2007 by Travel News Editor

Wizz Air reached the six million passengers since its May 2004 launch. Within one year the carrier has doubled its passenger numbers and has over-performed its competitors. The next one million will be carried within only 3 months. The fast development will be supported by the new aircraft deliveries in May and June this year. Until 2012, on average Wizz Air will take delivery of 8 new Airbus A320 a year. This will underline its market leadership in the existing home markets, such as Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia and enable expansion into new geographies.

Wizz Air has been continuously proving the success of its ultra low cost business model by carrying an ever growing number of passengers to new destinations, creating new links as well as enabling people to choose to travel fast, comfortably and for really low fares. This year Wizz Air will open it sixth base in Bucharest Baneasa airport, introduce close to 40 new routes, take delivery of 4 brand new Airbus A320 aircraft and carry 4.5 million passengers.
