Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 Improvements Planned

February 16, 2007 by Travel News Editor

British Airports Authority (BAA) have unveiled their plans to re-develop Heathrow’s Terminal 3. The plans are part of BAA’s investment programme to transform Heathrow Airport’s central terminal area.

The improvements to Heathrow (LHR) Terminal 3 will include a new, 40m deep pedestrian plaza with a subway connection to the existing subway. Reducing the amount of traffic congestion is high on BAA’s improvements agenda. A new 4 lane drop-off forecourt i included in the modernisation, allowing for 40% additional capacity. BAA’s CEO Tony Douglas has said that “the changes will significantly improve our passengers’ experience of Terminal 3.”

Using off-airport parking at Heathrow helps to reduce congestion around Terminal 3 by reducing the number of vehicles entering the Heathrow site. Holiday Extras, the market leader for UK airport parking, offer a wide selection of off-airport parking options for Heathrow. Courtlands Car Park is only a 10 minute free transfer from Terminal 3. Ever popular, Courtlands offers secured parking in a storage compound that is manned 24 hours a day with regular security patrols and security fencing. Cpurtlands Airport Parking offer a hassle free service with free transfer to the airport.

Holiday Extras also cater to those passengers flying from Heathrow Terminal 3 who are looking on-airport parking. Parking Express is situated on the perimeter road and offers free transfers to Terminal 3, taking about 15 minutes. Popular and efficient, Parking Express with Holiday Extras offers secured parking protected by CCTV coverage, security fencing and regular security patrols.

Those wishing to improve their Terminal 3 experience should consider booking an overnight stay in an airport hotel with parking. An overnight stay in a nearby hotel allows holiday makers to arrive at check in refreshed after a good nights sleep, free from the hassle of battling traffic and searching for parking spaces. Holiday Extras offer a wide selection of Heathrow Airport Hotels, including the Hilton. The Heathrow Hilton with Holiday Extras offers 4 star comfort with 8 and 15 days parking options complete with free transfers to the airport. An airport hotel with parking can cost less than airport parking alone.

BAA are hoping to complete changes to Terminal 3 by the end of 2007. Taking advantage of Holiday Extras’ low prices on Heathrow airport parking and airport hotels today will significantly improve the experience of arriving at Terminal 3.
