Macau Studio City to Include First W Hotel in Macau

August 14, 2007 by Travel News Editor

The addition of the W Macau Studio City as the fourth hotel in the first phase Macau Studio City (MSC) integrated leisure resort property completes the four planned hotel partnerships for the Cotai district complex. When it opens in 2009 it will be the first W hotel in Macau. Other companies have joined Macau Studio City in strategic partnerships only six months after its groundbreaking ceremony are Taubman, Playboy Enterprises, and Mr. David Tang.

“Macao Studio City brings together the best hotel partners in the world and we are excited to partner with Starwood to bring the W to Macao,” said Peter Lam, co-chairman of Macao Studio City.

The W will have 563 guest rooms and suites, along with 11,000 square feet of meeting space. An outdoor heated pool with private cabana service and 24-hour concierge service will be among the hotel’s amenities, along with two restaurants, The Living Room and the W Café. The design will be by Charles Allem of Charles Allem Designs International.

Macau Studio City is located next to the new Lotus Bridge immigration checkpoint, giving it a direct link to mainland China via Zhuhai’s Hengquin Island. The 32.3 acre site, as well as the 10 million square foot Mall at Studio City, will be one of the largest leisure and retail spaces in Macau.
