Jet Airways Starts Daily Kuwait – Mumbai Flights

Jet Airways launched daily direct service to Kuwait from Mumbai. This is the airline’s second daily service to Kuwait from India, complementing the airline’s existing Kochi-Kuwait service. Jet Airways operated the new flight aboard a state-of-the-art Boeing 737-800 aircraft .

Flight 9W 572 departed Mumbai at 1900 hrs, and will arrive in Kuwait at 2030 hrs. Flight 9W 571 will then depart Kuwait at 2130 hrs and arrive in Mumbai at 0400 hrs, the following day. [Read more…]

Lufthansa to Start Munich – Mumbai Flights

Lufthansa is continuing to expand its services to India. From 3 May 2008, it will be the only airline to connect the south German hub of Munich with Mumbai (Bombay). In future, the thrice-weekly flights from Munich, which will be operated with an Airbus A340-300, will supplement Lufthansa’s daily service from Frankfurt. In addition, the current service from Frankfurt to Kolkata (Calcutta) in Northeast India will also be boosted from three to five flights a week, starting on 3 June by adding a flight on Tuesdays and Saturdays . “India is increasingly gaining in importance as a strategic growth market. That is why Lufthansa has steadily expanded its flight services to the country in recent years. In future, our customers will have a choice of 50 flights a week to six destinations in India. Jet Airways Launches Mumbai – New York Route

On August 5th, Jet Airways began daily service to New York (Newark) from Mumbai, via its Brussels hub. Jet is the first Indian airline in the private sector to fly this route. The lighting of a traditional lamp marked the event, which was attended by local dignitaries and airline senior management. To mark the event, the first passenger to check in for each class was presented with flowers.

The flight carries 312 passengers in a three-class configuration on a new Boeing 777-300 ER airplane. Each First Class passenger will occupy a private space with dual sliding doors that provides over 26 square feet of usable space, creating the first airline suite aloft. The suite contains a 23-inch flat-screen monitor, and an 83-inch flat-bed seat, the world’s longest. The beverage service will offer single malt whiskies, French wines, and champagnes that include vintage Dom Perignon and Krug. [Read more…]
