Singapore Airlines Start Flights To Kuwait

Singapore Airlines started operating flights between Kuwait and Singapore, via Abu Dhabi. SQ458 departed Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 1305hrs and is expected to arrive in Kuwait at 1830hrs (all times local).

For the return leg of the trip, SQ457 will depart from Kuwait at 2120hrs, and arrive in Singapore at 1230hrs the next day. Both legs of the flight will operate via Abu Dhabi.

This new four times weekly service will operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, using the Boeing 777-200 aircraft. [Read more…]

Thai Airways to Move All Domestic Flights to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Starting on March 29, 2009 Thai Airways International will operate all domestic and international flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Thai Airways will move a total of 23 domestic flights from Don Mueang Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

By shifting all flights to Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thai Airways will achieve a strategic objective of promoting the airport as a major THAI and Star Alliance hub. The move will enable Thai Airways to develop network of operations, improve handling efficiency and reduce operating costs. It will also increase convenience for passengers and cargo shippers, not only for Thai Airways flights, but also for those of other Star Alliance member airlines operating to and through Bangkok. Singapore Changi Airport Reports Traffic Growth in 2008

Despite the global economic slowdown in the second half of 2008, Singapore Changi Airport handled a higher volume of passenger traffic, with 37.7 million passenger movements handled in 2008, up 2.7% from 2007.

Among the top 15 markets by passenger traffic, both regional and long-haul sectors registered growth. In the region, the sectors of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam, grew 6.5%, 9.4%, 11.9% and 19.4% respectively, while the long-haul sectors of Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom grew 5.6%, 5% and 7%. Declines of 10.9% and 5.2% were registered in passenger traffic from Thailand and China. [Read more…]

Qantas Starts Sydney – Singapore – London A380 Flights

Qantas will extend its A380 network to Singapore and the United Kingdom later today, with its inaugural A380 service between Sydney and London. Executive General Manager, Mr John Borghetti, said the airline would initially operate three A380 services each week on the Kangaroo Route.

“Since we operated our first A380 service between Melbourne and Los Angeles in October last year, this aircraft has generated extremely positive feedback from our customers,” Mr Borghetti said. [Read more…]

Delta Air Lines Adds Nonstop Service Between New York-JFK and Bogota

Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) announced today new nonstop daily service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Bogota, Colombia, starting Aug. 19.

 

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) officially approved Delta’s new service to Colombia this week following preliminary approval in March. The new Delta flight to Bogota complements the airline’s existing daily service to Colombia from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. [Read more…]

Lufthansa to Start Munich – Mumbai Flights

Lufthansa is continuing to expand its services to India. From 3 May 2008, it will be the only airline to connect the south German hub of Munich with Mumbai (Bombay). In future, the thrice-weekly flights from Munich, which will be operated with an Airbus A340-300, will supplement Lufthansa’s daily service from Frankfurt. In addition, the current service from Frankfurt to Kolkata (Calcutta) in Northeast India will also be boosted from three to five flights a week, starting on 3 June by adding a flight on Tuesdays and Saturdays . “India is increasingly gaining in importance as a strategic growth market. That is why Lufthansa has steadily expanded its flight services to the country in recent years. In future, our customers will have a choice of 50 flights a week to six destinations in India. This will underpin our position as the European market leader,” said Karl Ulrich Garnadt, Executive Vice President Services and Human Resources, Lufthansa Passenger Airlines. [Read more…]
