New Sydney Service from Budget Airline Viva Macau

Budget airline Viva Macau will fly non-stop between Macau and Sydney three times weekly starting August 15, 2007. The route will use wide-body Boeing 767 aircraft in a two-class configuration. Introductory one-way fares for economy, or Star Class, start at MOP 1,155 (approximately AUD 158) exclusive of taxes and surcharges. Superstar Class fares start at MOP 7,035 (approximately AUD 1000) during the initial promotion. [Read more…]

Marriott to Introduce Courtyard Brand to Phuket, Thailand

Marriott HotelsTwo Courtyard by Marriott hotels will be part of the Phuket, Thailand, tourism infrastructure beginning in 2008 as a result of management agreements reached by Marriott with Destination Properties Company, Limited.

Both hotels will be conversions of existing properties and will undergo extensive renovations prior to being re-branded. The existing hotels are the 399-room Grand Tropicana Hotel Phuket which will convert to the Courtyard by Marriott Phuket at Patong Beach; and the 256-room Surin Beach Resort which will be re-branded as the Courtyard by Marriott Phuket at Surin Beach. Frankfurt Airport: Strong Growth During First Six Months

The largest German airport closed out the first six months of 2007 with new record volumes. Contrary to expectations, more passengers frequented Frankfurt Airport last month than a year ago. A total of 4,831,305 passengers were recorded at Frankfurt Airport in June which is 0.1 percent above the count in the previous record year 2006 and the highest passenger count for the month of June in the history of this airport. GOL and Delta Air Lines to Offer Connections in South America

GOL Airlines has entered into a baggage and ticketing agreement with Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL), allowing for faster and more convenient connections between the two airlines.

The agreement will provides Delta’s passengers with easier connections through Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to any of GOL’s 58 destinations in Brazil as well as to Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario, Argentina; Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia; Santiago, Chile; Asuncion, Paraguay; Lima, Peru; and; Montevideo, Uruguay. Royal Caribbean Opens Asia-Pacific Headquarters in Singapore

Royal Caribbean Cruises opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore’s central business district. The Sigapore office will support the marketing efforts in the Asia-Pacific region for three of the company’s cruise brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises. as well as provide sales and trade support in the region.

“This region shows great growth potential in terms of providing new destinations for international cruise guests from North America and Europe given the varied and exciting cultures throughout the region, and their accessibility to the coastline,” said Adam Goldstein, president of Royal Caribbean International. “This, coupled with the prospect of Asian markets being substantial source markets for new cruise guests, gives us tremendous opportunity for growth in the region.” [Read more…]

American Airlines to Apply to Fly Nonstop From Chicago to Beijing

American Airlines will apply to the United States Department of Transportation to begin serving a new nonstop route between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Beijing, China, effective March 25, 2009.

American will seek the route award as part of a new agreement between the United States and China to expand airline service between the two countries. The airline said its evaluation of potential new routes to China was based on the economics and likelihood of financial success in the China market as envisioned in 2009. [Read more…]

Expedia Begins Offering JetBlue Airways Inventory

Expedia announced a new five-year strategic partnership with low-fare carrier JetBlue Airways Corporation, under which all of JetBlue’s published fares, schedules and inventory are now available to leisure and unmanaged business travelers through Expedia.com(R) and Hotwire. Wizz Air carries six millionth passenger

Wizz Air reached the six million passengers since its May 2004 launch. Within one year the carrier has doubled its passenger numbers and has over-performed its competitors. The next one million will be carried within only 3 months. The fast development will be supported by the new aircraft deliveries in May and June this year. Until 2012, on average Wizz Air will take delivery of 8 new Airbus A320 a year. This will underline its market leadership in the existing home markets, such as Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia and enable expansion into new geographies. [Read more…]
