Mandarin Oriental to Open in Milan in 2010

September 25, 2007 by Travel News Editor

The first hotel in Italy to be managed by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will open in Milan in 2010 on Via Monte di Pieta. The location is close to major tourist sites and the shopping areas that bring tourists from all over the world. It is also convenient to business centers, the fashion industry, and cultural attractions.

“We are delighted to be bringing Mandarin Oriental’s renowned hospitality into Italy for the first time,“ said Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s Chief Executive, Edouard Ettedgui. “We are excited at the prospect of creating such a luxurious hotel in one of Milan’s pre-eminent locations.”

Three re-developed 19th century buildings will contain the classic but modern hotel, which will be designed around an open courtyard. The luxury hotel’s 70 guest rooms and 34 suites will be some of the largest in Milan, and will feature high-tech in-room entertainment.

The Mandarin Oriental will offer restaurants and bars providing a variety of choices for dining. Facilities will include a fitness center as well as an indoor swimming pool. A ballroom seating up to 100 and two meeting rooms will be available for meetings and other functions.

Private treatment rooms and programs designed exclusively by Mandarin Oriental will be highlights of the Spa at Mandarin Oriental. The spa will provide a peaceful setting for its holistic treatments, including heat therapy, water therapy, massage, beauty, and wellness programs.
