IHG Hotels & Resorts will open InterContinental Sapporo in late 2025, in partnership with AXA Life Insurance Company. Located in central Sapporo, the new hotel will occupy the upper floors (9th to 14th) of a mixed-use development known as the AXA Sapporo Nakajima Park Project. It will be IHG’s first luxury property in Sapporo, fifth hotel in Hokkaido, and eleventh InterContinental-branded hotel in Japan.
The hotel will feature 149 guest rooms ranging from 42 to 159 square metres, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of Nakajima Park and the Toyohira River. The design will reflect Hokkaido’s natural landscape, incorporating residence-style layouts and nature-inspired materials and colors.
Facilities will include two dining venues, a lounge, bar, indoor pool, gym, and a function room. The food and beverage options will include an all-day dining restaurant with river views, a show kitchen with an open atmosphere, and a kappo-style Japanese restaurant offering counter seating and chef interactions. A central lounge and bar will provide a forest-inspired setting for tea and cocktails.
Public areas will evoke seasonal and natural themes, featuring a water installation in the lobby, a library lounge with a fireplace, and greenery-filled relaxation spaces.
