"SPIRIT OF THE WEST COAST"

Exclusive Tour of World's Largest Remaining Coastal Temperate Rainforest

CAMPBELL RIVER, British Columbia. -- Great Canadian Adventure Tours Ltd. (GCAT) is proud to announce a brand new world’s first, that is quickly proving to be one of the most sought after eco-adventures of the new millennium.

President M.W. LeSage designed the excursion in response to a global demand for a soft eco-adventure that takes you off the beaten path to experience nature without having to be “Crocodile Dundee”. LeSage’s adventure, premiering June 1, 2000, is more of an expedition than a tour - yet provides for all the comforts of life.

This excursion is designed to first captivate you, then educate you - but most importantly, inspire you. Its creator, M.W. LeSage, has flown the coast of British Columbia and Alaska for over 22 years and spent the last twoyearsof his life designing the finest tour of the West Coast Rainforest ever offered. From the majestic scenery, to the abundant wildlife, and the culture of those who have inhabited it for over 8,000 years, this unique excursion is guaranteed to leave you feeling closer to nature.

This six-day, fully guided tour stretches from Vancouver, British Columbia to Ketchikan, Alaska, and encompasses over half of the planet’s largest Coastal Temperate Rainforest. This includes the “Great Bear Rainforest” and Alaska’s “Tongass National Forest”.

Drive or ride a Hummer as part of a convoy on an expedition deep into the Coastal Rainforest. Find yourself under the natural canopy of a virgin stand of Old Growth Forest. Take a short hike to a Karst landscape and vast underground world created over 230 million years ago. Massive caves of marble, decorated by both Mother Nature and past civilizations. Enter into the Planet Earth’s dark side and breathe some of the cleanest air in our atmosphere. Watch Salmon swim theunderground rivers as Bears dine in the distance.

Sound wild? It is!

And to think - just yesterday you had a picnic on a mountaintop glacier, and tomorrow you’re amongst a pod of Orca (Killer) Whales. Your adventure also takes you to remote sandy beaches, pristine mountain lakes and ancient native village sites.

Hear the tales of the past and present cultures as you relax in your “eagle eye” viewpoint, as you cruise the West Coast by air. As if that’s not enough, try your hand at world-class “catch-and-release” sport fishing, or have a snowball fight while tanning under the hot summer sun. Walk the boardwalk of Alaska’s first city, and at night cast a moon shadow and relax as you bask under the blanket of stars, reminiscing of your day’s adventure.

It’s an experience that cannot be found anywhere else, and is guaranteed to broaden your mind – truly the “adventure of a lifetime”.

Where The “Spirit of the West Coast” Tour 2000 really sets itself apart from any on the planet is the possibility fordiscovery; each guest experiences some of Planet Earth’s best-kept secrets.

Designed around the world’s largest remaining Coastal Temperate Rainforest, the expedition will take you to places where very few, and in some cases no one has ever been before. Just in the one year it took to design the basic expedition, the members of our small team were party to discovering several new plant forms and many new surface and underground cave features.

Tickets go on sale November 23, 1999, just in time for that “hard-to-buy-for” special someone. Give a Christmas present of lasting memories.
