Hawaiian Airlines pilots are protest outside the interisland terminal at the Honolulu Airport, a day after the carrier celebrated its 75th anniversary.Jim Giddings of the pilots' union says about two dozen pilots carrying signs that say "Hawaiian Air Unfair" is protest on the sidewalk outside the ticketing lobby.
Giddings says they've been out since 6 that morning and will protest in shifts until 10 o'clock tonight. He expects a total of 150 pilots to walk the lines -- half the union's 300 members.
The protest by the Hawaiian Airlines unit of the Air Line Pilots Association is calling attention to what it considers unfair contract negotiating practices by management during bankruptcy reorganization.Giddings says the pilots union is concerned that the airline is using the bankruptcy process to unfairly influence the regular contract negotiations process.
